Days 1-7: Setting the Habits

The first week is spent on developing your routine. These are a handful of exercises that I have strategically chosen for you to start your commitment to 30 days.

These exercises primarily focus on your 5 unique vocal "musculature" coordinations (chest, head, pharyngeal, compression, and mix).

Days 8-14: Isolating Chest Coordination

This blueprint compounds.

As you continue your habitual routines of morning warm ups and guided passaggio trainings, you will begin to incorporate targeted workouts that isolate different coordinations of your voice.

  • A 16 minute guided routine to isolate and target your chest voice
  •  The squeaky door principle to help build a consistent compression throughout your range.
  • Workout conclusive warm ups to recalibrate the voice after training

At this point in your journey, you will begin to feel a change in your voice. The exercises come more easily. The notes that were once strained will now start to feel lighter and more accessible.

It's important to continue reminding yourself of the gym analogy. Imagine going to the gym for the first time for your body and putting in an intense workout.

When you return home and look in the mirror, what do you see? Not a single change. But! You do this consistently. You keep showing up. And eventually, you start to see the difference.

It's the same way for the voice. Keep showing up. Keep sticking to the plan.

Days 14-30: Opening Head Resonance

We begin shifting our focus to where the voice must go as we sing higher... the head voice.

Going back to the compounding nature of this blueprint - you will find that your head voice will develop more quickly now that you have put in some work on your compression and chest coordinations.

  • A 12 minute guided routine to isolate and target your head voice (with an optional 10 minute warm up)
  •  An expansion of the Passaggio workout to incorporate additional semi-occluded vocal tract exercises designed to create balance in the voice.
  • A "supersetting" approach to vocal training which guides you through a rotation of your workouts - much like you would rotate through your exercises at the gym.

These last couple of weeks in the blueprint set you up for life. You are refining the building blocks of the voice which you will keep with you for the rest of your life. How you choose to put them together is where artistry takes the spotlight.
